What is R-422B?

R-422B (a blend of R-125, R-134a, and R-600a) is a hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerant specifically developed as a drop-in replacement for R-22 in existing medium and low-temperature refrigeration and air conditioning systems. It offers compatibility with traditional mineral oil (MO) and alkylbenzene (AB) lubricants, simplifying the transition process without requiring major system modifications.

R-422B operates at pressures similar to R-22, making it a practical and efficient choice for retrofitting older systems. While its global warming potential (GWP) is higher than newer refrigerants, it provides a reliable and cost-effective solution for systems unable to transition to more advanced alternatives. R-422B is non-toxic and non-flammable, meeting the A1 safety classification, and is widely used in commercial refrigeration, residential AC units, and industrial applications.
